The 2nd Eishockey-Bundesliga was the second tier of Ice hockey in Germany until 2012/13 and has since been replaced by DEL2. Starting in 2002, the league was organized by the ESBG (de:Eishockeyspielbetriebsgesellschaft mbH), to which the league organization was outsourced from the DEB, the German ice hockey federation. In the 2012–13 season, it featured 13 teams.

The "Germany Eishockey Liga 2" (DEL2) is the second-tier professional ice hockey league in Germany, showcasing a thrilling blend of skill, speed, and competitive spirit. Established to provide a platform for emerging talent and teams striving for promotion to the top-tier Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), DEL2 features a diverse array of clubs from across the nation, each with its own unique history and passionate fan base.

The tournament runs annually, typically from September to April, culminating in an exciting playoff series to determine the league champion. Teams compete in a rigorous schedule of regular-season games, where they battle for points and positioning, with the top teams earning a chance to vie for promotion to the DEL.

DEL2 is known for its high-energy atmosphere, with fans filling arenas to support their local teams. The league not only highlights established players but also serves as a crucial development ground for young athletes aspiring to make their mark in professional ice hockey. With a commitment to fostering talent and promoting the sport, the Germany Eishockey Liga 2 is a must-watch for hockey enthusiasts and a vital part of Germany's rich ice hockey culture.
