The 2nd Eishockey-Bundesliga was the second tier of Ice hockey in Germany until 2012/13 and has since been replaced by DEL2. Starting in 2002, the league was organized by the ESBG (de:Eishockeyspielbetriebsgesellschaft mbH), to which the league organization was outsourced from the DEB, the German ice hockey federation. In the 2012–13 season, it featured 13 teams.

The Germany Eishockey Liga 2, commonly known as the DEL2, is the premier second-tier ice hockey league in Germany. Established as a competitive platform beneath the top-tier Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), DEL2 features a dynamic mix of professional and semi-professional teams from across the country. The league showcases high-caliber hockey, fostering local talent and providing a pathway for players to advance to the top division. Throughout the season, teams compete in a rigorous schedule of regular-season games, culminating in playoffs that determine the league champion. Known for its passionate fan base and exciting gameplay, the DEL2 plays a vital role in Germany's ice hockey landscape, promoting the sport's growth and development at the national level.
